From time to time on Beyond the Veil, our Secret World Talk Show, listeners ask us about our favorite decks and if we would share them. To this we are pleased to release our Battlestar Deck series!
The name Battlestar has its root in pop culture, stemming from TV, Movies, books and the list goes on. Battlestar, in this case, debuted on the show by host Xander’s slip of the tongue during a deck segment. Thus hilarity ensued and so began the Battlestar Deck Series.
Our first deck is by far Xander’s favorite. This deck was originally built by Xander to fill a need to counter mass mobs in the game. After several weeks of testing in many different areas in TSW, Xander shared his first home made deck with cast mates who loved it. Galactrix, one of our show’s Deck Masters, suggested a few simple tweaks and bang…. a Battlestar Galactrix was born…
What you need!
Weapons: Assault Riffle, Elemental Focus, Flame Thrower
Active Abilities: Suppressing Fire, Three Round Burst, Red Mist, Thor’s Hammer, Coldwave, Tactical Retreat, Razor Wire and Dragon’s Breath
Passive Abilities: Lethality, Knuckle Down, Eagle Eye, Kill Streak, Accuracy, Sick Society, Live Wire and Searing Magnesium
Gear to Use!
First off, always gear yourself with DPS in mind. Now if you like to try this in solo play, run yourself with 4 to 6 thousand health, keeping in mind, the higher your health, the lower your attack. If you’re running with a group, run with all attack gear, but to be on the safe side, keep some health and leech potions around.
How to use it!
This deck has some single target attacks like Red Mist to help smack down bigger foes but when you get in the thick of things with a mob chasing after you, give them the old 1 2 3!
Start with Suppressing Fire five times to really get their attention, once they’re on or close to you, fire off Coldwave to freeze them in their tracks, then Tactical Retreat to blow them up and dash back, then BBQ them with Dragon’s Breath. If they are still on you, hit Razor Wire to slow them down and continue with Suppressing Fire to finish the job. Also, after the 1 2 3 you may want to throw in some of your single target attacks for some flare 😉
In any case, remember: Coldwave, Tactical Retreat and then Dragon’s Breath, and any mob will be sorry they met you.
Customize!
With the new augment wheel added to the mix and swapping out the Flame Thrower for any other Aux Weapon,there’s still room to change the deck around with out altering the main powers. And for those who love tweaking builds, with over 500 abilities in game, fine tuning this deck to your play style could unlock a Battlestar in you 😉
