The Art Director’s Guild has announced the nominations in their 18th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards. The nominations were announced by ADG Council Chair John Shaffner and Awards co-producers Dave Blass and Raf Lydon on January 9th. The voting is now open and ceremony announcing the winners will take place on February 8th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, with the comedian Owen Benjamin hosting.
The Academy Award winner, Martin Scorsese will receive the Guild’s prestigious Cinematic Imagery Award, while Production Designer Rick Carter will be awarded the Guild’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Robert Clatworthy, Harper Goff and J. Michael Riva will be inducted into the Guild’s Hall of Fame.
The Art Directors Guild represents nearly 2,000 members who work throughout the United States, Canada and the rest of the world in film, television and theater as Production Designers, Art Directors, and Assistant Art Directors; Scenic, Title and Graphic Artists; Illustrators and Matte Artists; and Set Designers and Model Makers.
The nominations for excellence in Production Design are broken down into 10 categories for theatrical motion pictures, television, commercials and music videos. Some of the nominees in the feature film category include Scott Chambliss (Star Trek Into Darkness), Philip Ivey (Elysium), Bob Shaw (The Wolf of Wall Street) and Catherine Martin (The Great Gatsby). Nominees in the Television categories include Brian Kane (Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome), Gemma Jackson (Game of Thrones) and Todd Cherniawsky (Call of Duty: Ghosts episode Epic Night Out).
