My wife and I subbed years ago and enjoyed the game well enough for a while and then moved on. We are currently jonesing for an MMO again, burnt out on ArcheAge, GW2 and all the gazillion “Early Access” pre-alphas out there sucking up P2W money. We remembered TSW and wondered “what’s it like now”?
The one thing we absolutely hated about the game was the astonishing number of solo-only quests. We are a duo, we play ONLY together. If we wanted to play single player we would buy single player games. We come here for the MM part of MMO. It clearly was one of the reasons we left the game. So, have they dealt with this or is there still a maddening number of solo-only quests? And if I recall correctly, you could not tell until you took the quest whether it was a solo instance or not. Nutty design.
I loved the skill tree, I vaguely remember the wheel and found combat fun. But reasonably challenging, too. In fact, at times it was too hard, not something we’re used to coming across in MMO’s.
Anyway, what’s the verdict? Is there a decent player population or are the servers dying? Can we duo everything or are we going to be faced with solo-only quests again? Is there a lot of life left in this game?
Thanks in advance, looking forward to feedback.
